１．情報を流して得する人を考えてみましょう。
２．可能な限り情報のソースを確認しましょう。
３．コメントはその人の意見であって事実ではありません。
４．片寄った意見はなんらかの裏があるはずです。情報だけを見るようにしましょう。
５．２つの意見があるとき、マスコミの誘導に載らない決断力を持ちましょう。
６．雑誌や番組のタイトルや見出しに惑わされず、中身を見るようにしましょう。
７．意見の偏りやその人の専門を見極めるために、情報提供者の名前を覚えるようにしましょう。
８．メディアの人間がアクシデントに対しどんな対応をするか見極めましょう。
９．メディアは知っていることすべてを報道するわけではないことを覚えておきましょう。
10．大勢が判明するまでなにかを語ることは避けましょう。

ニュースは、そのソースによっていくつもの異なる分析が可能です。
重要なニュースについて、ソースに基づいた意見を述べるときは、同一ニュースを扱う複数のニュースソース（外電の場合も同様）を比較検討し、飛ばし記事（ガセ）や印象操作・捏造報道に引っかからないように気をつけましょう。
